Everblaze Worship on September 15th!

It’s been three months since First Christian Church hosted the last Everblaze event. Now, First Friends has volunteered their building on September 15th!

The event will run from 7:00 to 10:30 p.m., and will be followed by refreshments. The Everblaze Worship Team will be providing music again, and Faithful Dance Company will be bringing a dance and drama to share.

If you’d like to get involved with this event, we have positions open. You can contact us here.

Musicians for the Upcoming Worship Night

As we have been praying for May 19th, God has been revealing to us more and more details! Today we’d like to announce our musicians who will be glorifying God with music at Everblaze.

We’re excited to welcome the local bands The Followers and Creed! They’ll be starting off the evening with some great songs of praise.

The Followers is a local band that is based at Covenant of Grace Church in Copley, Ohio.  Formed in 2015, the small group is comprised of Makayla Hickin (16), guitarist; Jeremy Koci (15), bassist and cellist; Ruthie Wilson (15), pianist and singer; and Collin Tumino (14), drummer.  All four are actively involved in their youth group and church, and they enjoy having jam sessions after such events.  Although both Makayla and Ruthie have written songs, they predominantly cover popular worship songs, giving their renditions an intimate, acoustic feel.  The Followers have played for a few events and they hope to have many more opportunities to advertise their band in the future!   As of now, they are working on their all-original debut album to hopefully be released this summer.

Creed is a local band based out of Akron, Ohio. They mostly perform Christian rock music.

The Everblaze Worship Team will conclude the evening. Keep your eyes open for a list of the songs we’ll be singing!

Worship — March 4, 2017

When You speak, when You move,
When You do what only You can do,
It changes us,
It changes what we see and what we seek!
– “Spirit of the Living God,” Vertical Church Band

I came to the worship night on March 4 with high expectations — which were all exceeded by the work God did that night in so many hearts!   I had not been able to attend the last gathering (December 22), so I was eager to come back to this place of freedom which worship opens for me.

The Holy Spirit was immediately present as we began to open our hearts to God’s glory.  Seeking him through worship freed me to raise my hands in awe and surrender.  All my plans, my worries, my fears — all was laid at God’s feet!   Together we let go of the shore and voyaged into the living water Jesus offers.

Throughout the night, our worship was sprinkled with shouting, spontaneous songs, Bible verses, encouraging words.  Seeing the Spirit move in the souls of those around me was so reassuring.  Even the youngest there were sharing the words God was laying on their hearts.  Such a strong sense of unity — seeking God together — was over the whole night.

There were a few themes, too — we learned about calling out to God.  We learned about courage.  We learned about the love that overcomes all fear.

In the week since the worship night, though, one other theme has kept tugging at my heart.  It’s kept popping up in everything!  It’s living water.

Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
    nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree
    planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.

Psalm 1:1-3 ESV

But there the Lord in majesty will be for us
a place of broad rivers and streams…
Isaiah 33:21 ESV

“Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’”
John 7:38 ESV

For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd,
and he will guide them to springs of living water,
and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
Revelation 7:17 ESV

We are nourished by this water; this water gives us peace, strength, and power.  It will make us bear fruit.  What better water is there?

The deeper into this water we go, the more we experience of God’s unending grace and mercy toward us.  The more we fall in love.  This is what God made us for: to experience his glory and to enjoy him forever!  And he holds his arms out to us.  Joy is waiting for us.

And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, for “In him we live and move and have our being…”
Acts 17:26-28 ESV

** Regarding spiritual gifts: We believe that God gives believers the Spirit, and the Spirit manifests himself in our sanctification as well as in spiritual gifts.  1 Corinthians 12:7-11 NIV — “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,  to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.”

How you can pray for Everblaze

Dear worshipers,

We’ve been in prayer over the upcoming May Everblaze gathering, and we’d love to have you come alongside us as we prepare our hearts for this event. Here are some specific ways you can pray for those organizing event, as well as for the evening itself:

  • Pray that we all will be fully dedicated, heart, mind, and soul, to Jesus and to His voice.
  • Pray that the distractions of the world will not tear our eyes away from Christ.
  • Pray for guidance for all involved.
  • Pray that the Holy Spirit will be, even now, preparing the hearts of those who will be at First Christian Church on May 19th– that He will be planting seeds that will grow!
  • Pray that we will all grow closer to God through this event. Our hearts’ desire is to lift Him up, that He may be glorified, and whenever we surrender our selves to lift Him up, we do grow closer.
  • Pray that we will hear God’s voice regarding the future of Everblaze.

Thank you so much for your prayer! Be His worshiper today, and take the time to have a quiet moment with Jesus. A moment with Jesus is never a moment wasted!

We’re praying for you all! The Lord bless and keep you!

~Your sister in Jesus
